DSC_0238Being a Development Educational Institution, Torch of Life Academy’s Pre-School Department which started in 1995, embraces a curriculum based on the stages of a child’s development both chronological and mental. Facilitators assist the students and expose them to age-appropriate lessons and activities that aide them in arriving at desired outputs that live up to each student’s potential. TLA Pre-school provides a print-rich learning environment that is visually stimulating, age appropriate and safe.

Torch of Life Academy’s Pre-school Department believes in the following:

1. STRONG CHRISTIAN FOUNDATION – seeing the need to anchor within children strong spiritual and moral values, we encourage them to develop the virtues of caring, sharing, love of their neighbors, environment and most of all God.

2. EARLY INTERVENTION – by having programs for children as young as 1.6 to 2 years old, we seek to introduce children to the school setting as we endeavor to help them relate and communicate with their age-mates, teachers and other members of the community.

3. CHILD-CENTERED APPROACH – recognizing the uniqueness of every child, we practice individuality in the approach of facilitators taking into account that children learn at a varied pace, thus, giving importance to self-pacing.

4. INDEPENDENT THINKING – as we acknowledge the possibility that children have something to say about things around them, we encourage them to share their opinion as it assists in developing their critical thinking skills.

6. CREATIVITY – at TLA Pre-school, we constantly discover and nurture children’s God-given gifts and encourage them to actively participate in the Arts as they learn in the process.

7. PLAY AS A TOOL – as it is a purposeful activity that gives freedom, joy, contentment and inner and outer rest, we give ample time and due importance to it. We acknowledge that it is the “purest, most spiritual activity of man at this stage”.
